Service Level Agreement (SLA) - Careers Service

This Statement of Service outlines the standard of service you can expect as a user of Careers at the University of Stirling. It includes our overall mission as well as details of what we offer you, and what we expect of you as a user of our services.

1. Mission statement

We are your professional careers experts who provide reliable and relevant careers education, information, advice and guidance to all Stirling students and graduates. Our aim is to empower you to explore career options, develop career skills, and make informed career decisions for a meaningful and fulfilling future.

2. Who can use the Careers?

You can use Careers if you are:

  • a current fully enrolled full or part-time student at the University of Stirling or the University of Stirling International Study Centre;
  • a University of Stirling student who is currently taking a leave of absence;
  • an exchange student currently studying at the University of Stirling;
  • a graduate of the University of Stirling who has registered with the TARGETconnect platform. ;
  • staff of the University of Stirling who have registered with the TARGETconnect platform.

3. What do we offer users of our services?

For detailed information on the services we offer that may be most relevant to you, please check the  Careers website, and TARGETconnect. Services include:

  • Employability and careers events led by qualified careers consultants.
  • Careers Consultants working with faculties to provide quality careers education. 
  • Events featuring alumni and employers.
  • An online suite of 24/7 careers learning resources designed to help students and recent graduates.
  • Advertising of opportunities including graduate jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, and part-time and seasonal work.

4. Services for Stirling graduates

As a Stirling graduate, you have lifelong career support. From refining your CV, to interview practice and much more, we can support you at every stage of your professional journey. 5. Services to staff

MMany of the services we offer to students and graduates, including confidential one-to-one advice, events, as well as free access to a number of careers tools such as CareerSet (CV feedback) and GoinGlobal - are available to University of Stirling staff. To access these resources and our services, you will need to register with our stirling.targetconnect.net.

You also have access to a SharePoint site for staff covering Careers and all aspects of the wider Student Skills and Employability Service.

6. What we ask of you

We depend on you to help us provide the most effective service possible.  You can help us by:

  • Treating careers staff, employers and other users with respect and consideration, including in group sessions, and using our services in a responsible manner;
  • Responding to the Graduate Outcomes survey for information on what you are doing following graduation and in your subsequent career;
  • Actively participating in your own career development by preparing in advance and following up by taking any appropriate action suggested by Careers staff;
  • Keeping appointments and attending booked presentations and other activities, or providing reasonable notice in the case of cancellation. Failure to attend, without cancelling, three times could result in your booking privileges being suspended for a short time

  • Comprehensive, accurate and timely information delivered through a range of media and relevant formats.
  • Careers education, information, advice and guidance delivered by qualified, competent and experienced careers staff.
  • Equality of opportunity and access regardless of age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, nationality, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
  • Reasonable notice if we are forced to cancel an event or appointment booking.
  • A feedback mechanism and complaints procedure.

Feedback

We value your feedback and suggestions. You can provide feedback in person, by email (ask@stir.ac.uk), by phone, through social media or via TARGETconnect.

We may ask for more formal feedback, for example via surveys and questionnaires, on our range of activities including events and appointments.

If something goes wrong or you are dissatisfied with our service, please tell us via the methods above or use the University’s Complaints Procedure
