Tennis scholarships
As one of Europe's leading tennis scholarship programmes, the University of Stirling offers talented student athletes tailored packages to support them compete and train at the highest possible level whilst undertaking an academic degree.
At Scotland's University for Sporting Excellence, we bring together the highest quality performance coaches, facilities, sports science, strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and performance mentoring to help our athletes reach their sporting potential.
We are home to the Scottish National Tennis Centre, with six indoor acrylic courts, and our athletes compete at the highest level of student tennis both individually and in team competitions. Many of our athletes and graduates have competed at Grand Slam tournaments and gone on to have successful careers as tour professionals once finished their studies.

BA Sports Studies graduate Maia Lumsden
Having won gold at the Master'U BNP Paribas with Team GB and numerous student titles whilst at Stirling, former scholar, Maia Lumsden, has gone on to reach the doubles quarter finals at Wimbledon and claimed multiple ITF and WTA titles.

What our tennis scholarship offers you
- Coaching support provided by a highly experienced coaching team.
- Up to 20 hours court time per week at the Scottish National Tennis Centre.
- Academic flexibility allowing athletes to optimise both study and sport.
- Complimentary membership to the University sports facilities including access to world-class 50m swimming pool and gym areas.
- Strength and conditioning support services in dedicated high performance suite.
- Academic scholarships also available to assist with tuition fees.

Selection criteria
To be considered for a scholarship, prospective student athletes must meet the following criteria:
- Hold - or be in the process of applying for - a place on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course at the University of Stirling.
- Have a current UTR of 11.5+ (men) and 8.5+ (women)
- Actively competing at national and international level or competed at NCAA D1
- Aspiring to compete in WTA/ATP competitions

Applying for a scholarship
Please complete and return the ISSP application form before 31 July for a September start.
Scholarships are subject to applicants achieving relevant academic entry requirements.
Sports scholarships (England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, EU or International)
The University of Stirling offers sports scholarships to undergraduate students from England, Wales, Northern Ireland, EU and International with a value of £2,000 per year of study. These scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate and postgraduate students who meet the sport-specific qualification criteria and who meet or exceed their academic conditions for entry.
