24/7 student support helpline and counselling support
The 24/7 Student Support helpline is a free, confidential service that provides in-the-moment emotional wellbeing support and counselling to all students.
The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It provides support to help you with your greatest concerns including:
- anxiety,
- managing stress,
- low mood
- relationships,
- grief and loss,
- life changes.
The helpline is provided by our partner, Spectrum.Life.
How to access the 24/7 Student Support helpline
- Call 0800 031 8227 (freephone UK) or 00353 1 518 0277 (international).
- Sign up for Spectrum.Life to request a callback (organisation code: Stirling).
What happens when you call the helpline
- When you call the helpline you will hear a recorded message welcoming you to the “Spectrum.Life Student Assistance Programme”.
- You will be asked to select from two options. Using your phone keypad, select option 1 "Accessing Counselling Services”.
- You will then listen to a recorded privacy statement. This outlines how Spectrum.Life will process your personal data. You give consent to this by staying on the line until you are connected to a counsellor. Learn more about Spectrum.Life's privacy notice.
Already have a diagnosed mental health condition?
If you are a student with a diagnosed mental health condition you can contact our team of mental health advisers. They can offer advice on reasonable adjustments (in line with the Equality Act)
The advisers also provide comprehensive, specialist support to all current students who want to talk about their mental health.
Online Wellbeing Support
Spectrum.Life also has a platform that offers online wellbeing content, including articles relating to mental health, sleep, nutrition and much more. You can also explore the Wellbeing Series and the Digital Gym.
The platform also gives direct access to the 24/7 Student Support helpline.
