The University of Stirling Business School offers opportunities for students to get hands-on work experience through internships. They've partnered with PAGODA Projects to offer MSc International Business students the chance to do an internship in the UK, internationally or online. Preethi took up an internship with The Language Gym, a language training SME based in Madrid.
Preethi's story
I wanted to gain practical international experience alongside my Masters studies. The PAGODA internship felt like the perfect opportunity to apply my academic learning in a real-world business context, while also immersing myself in a different culture.
The application process was clear and straightforward. I appreciated how well-supported it was, with guidance provided at each stage, which made me feel confident and prepared.
I worked with The Language Gym, a language training SME based in Madrid. My role was within the Client Management team, where I analysed business operations, improved client journey tracking, and designed strategies to strengthen client retention and digital efficiency. I also had the chance to take part in company visits to Microsoft and BBVA, which gave me valuable insight into how large organisations operate on a global scale.

Putting theory into practice
The internship directly connected to the modules on international business strategy, operations, and consultancy. It allowed me to apply theory in practice, from process improvement to client relationship management. I gained skills in stakeholder engagement, ERP/CRM mapping, problem-solving, and cross-cultural teamwork, all of which are crucial for a career in consulting and business management.
What I enjoyed most was collaborating with a diverse group of interns from around the world. Sharing perspectives and working as a team made the experience both enriching and memorable. Beyond the professional aspect, the chance to live and work in Madrid, experiencing its culture, rhythm, and energy. It was really unforgettable.

Great opportunity to expand my professional network
This internship strengthened my confidence in pursuing a career in consulting and business operations. It gave me tangible examples of how I can contribute to improving organisational efficiency and client satisfaction. It has also expanded my professional network and added international experience to my profile, both of which will be invaluable for my career.
It was an excellent opportunity to step out of the classroom and into the real world, while still having the support of the University and PAGODA. It’s a chance to learn, grow, and challenge yourself in a safe but professional environment.
I’m grateful to the University of Stirling and PAGODA for making this experience possible. It was a defining part of my Masters journey, and I would encourage every student to take part if they can.
