Liam Spillane

Originally from the North of Ireland, Liam Spillane graduated from the University of Ulster in 1995 and began his career with the Irish Institute for European Affairs in Belgium. In 1997, he joined Hilton Hotels, where he progressed through a series of senior management roles, attaining his first General Manager appointment at the age of 30. His career subsequently took him to Egypt, where he spent two years continuing his leadership journey with Hilton across the Middle East.

In addition to his operational expertise in hospitality, Liam has held several governance and advisory positions. He has served as a board member of the Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce and as a trustee for a charitable organisation focused on youth development through education and financial support.

Liam currently serves as Executive Director of Estates and Commercial Services at the University of Stirling, where he provides strategic leadership across the Estates and Commercial Services Directorate. His remit includes student accommodation, retail operations, catering services for students and staff, the Stirling Court Hotel, property management and project management. He also holds the position of Chair of Stirling University Innovation Park (SUIP) and is a Board Director of Stirling Hotel Services Ltd, contributing to the growth and development of the region’s commercial and hospitality sectors.
