Teaching timetables

The timetable for Autumn Semester 2024 will be published by 29 August 2024.

The timetable for the Spring and Summer semesters will be published by end of 2024.

How to get your personalised timetable

Here's how to get your personalised class schedule:

  1. You can view your timetable through ‘Timetables and Bookings’ on your portal. In your portal, select ‘Timetables’, then ‘Timetables and Bookings’. Select ‘Student’ from the landing page to view your personal timetable. This guide will help show you how to access and view your timetable.
  2. You can also use the University App to access your personalised timetable which is populated with details of lectures and other full class activities for your modules, once you enrol. If you are not able to access the University App on your device, you can use a web browser.
  3. Next, you need to sign up for your groups before they will appear on your personalised timetable. It is available from a week before the start of the semester. We encourage you to sign up for your group sessions as soon as you can because they fill up quickly. This guide to Group Sign Up will help you get started.
  4. Once you've completed Group Sign Up, your classes will appear in your personalised timetable straight away. Your timetable is now ready! Ensure you know when your first class is running as it may be on the first day of the semester.
  5. Your teaching timetable will describe the teaching activity. Your timetable will include the following:
    • The type of teaching activity (e.g. Induction, Lecture, Seminar)
    • The date of the teaching activity
    • The time of the teaching activity
    • The duration of the teaching activity
    • The module code related to each activity
    • The location of the class (online is noted as “virtual” or a room on campus e.g. Building Name, followed by Room Number (Cottrell, 2X4).
  6. Finding your way around a new building can be tricky if you are new to our campus so allow plenty of time in case you get lost. You can access the new Digital Wayfinding App through the University App to locate a room and find your way there. Additionally, you can use our maps and floorplans to help you locate your teaching rooms.
  7. We try not to change timetables after they have been published, but this is sometimes unavoidable. If there is a late change to your timetable, you will be notified via email and your timetable will display a red dot to signify a change has been made. Please check your timetable regularly.

You’re good to go!

If you have questions then use LiveChat on the portal or ask at the information desks on campus when you arrive.

Our video explains how you can sign-up for your Groups.

How to access your timetable for activities and lectures

Timetable clashes

We gather information about modules running, registered student numbers, staff availability and the availability of suitably sized rooms before producing the timetable.

Our goal is to create a working timetable where all classes have suitably sized rooms and ensure that there are no clashes between compulsory modules. The wide range of optional modules available means it is not possible to guarantee that every possible combination will be available without clashes.

For other clashes, please contact your Faculty and they will be able to advise you of the most appropriate course of action.

If your induction or class test clashes with a lecture, don’t worry. These classes are only running for that week, you can catch up with the lecture material via Canvas or from material from the lecture.

Synchronise your timetable to Outlook

You can synchronize your timetable to your Outlook calendar (in TimeEdit) as another way to view and access your timetable in addition to the portal and the University App.

Attendance monitoring

If you are required to register your attendance for any of your classes read attendance monitoring: information for students for further information and how to register.
