University of Stirling footballers will kick off their 2025/26 Scottish Cup campaign with a home tie against Burntisland Shipyard.

The students are seeking to relive their dream run in the 2022/23 national cup competition, which saw them take on Premiership side Dundee United in the Fourth Round, in front of thousands of fans at Tannadice Stadium.

The First Round tie against Burntisland takes place at Forthbank Stadium on Monday 29 September with a 7.45pm kick-off. The University - which plays in the fifth tier of Scottish football, the Lowland League - is the higher ranked of the two sides, with Burntisland competing in the East of Scotland Second Division.

Students, staff and members of the local community are urged to come along and show their support for the students on the night.

David Bond, Head of Performance Sport at the University of Stirling, said: "The Scottish Cup holds a special place in our hearts, given the memories made on our historic run to the Fourth Round back in 2023.

"The team's success that season was driven by the enormous support we received from staff, students, alumni and the wider community - and we would love to see a big crowd at our opening tie in a few weeks' time, as we seek to cheer the team into the next round of the Cup!"

In 2022/23, Stirling - managed by Chris Geddes - became the first university side in more than 50 years to reach the last 32 of the Scottish Cup, Scotland's national cup competition. On that run, they beat Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale, Dunbar United and Albion Rovers.

Tickets for the University of Stirling versus Burntisland Shipyard match are available on the gate, priced at £8 for adults and £5 for concessions/students.
