About me
I am currently working towards my professional doctorate in health psychology on a part-time basis, while also working for a local authority. My work has covered a broad range of areas; I have designed and run a successful health coaching service to local authority staff, which was based on the MAP process of behaviour change, combined with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and CBTi (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia).
I have also provided health education sessions to third sector staff as part of a staff wellbeing initiative, delivered health psychology lectures to undergraduate psychology students, and classroom sessions to primary school children to support healthy eating using behaviour change principles. I have recently provided training to diabetes nurse specialists on supporting patients to self-manage using psychological approaches and behaviour change techniques, and have completed consultancy work evaluating social prescribing services across Scotland. I have also carried out a systematic review which explored the potential for dietary interventions to improve mental health.
My research interests are in exploring the experiences of those caring for people after liver transplant, with a view to developing evidence based interventions.
