Strategy, Operations, Analytics and Systems Stirling
I am a Digital Economy and International Business Strategy academic, with research that interlinks telecoms market liberalisation and universal access policies as a combined approach to developing innovative solutions for closing digital divides, including in countries in the Global South. My publications and pipeline research span strategy, ICT4D and AI4D, largely using a case study approach, and contribute to international debates on digital transformation. My work on digital infrastructure, governance and societal impacts has been cited by international organisations such as the OECD, World Bank, UN-Habitat and IDRC, informing policy frameworks that support inclusive growth in emerging markets. I also bring expertise in AI strategy and global transformation, with extensive experience in how emerging technologies reshape firms, markets, and institutions.
Alongside editing books and peer reviewing journals, I review for the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business, and I also act as an External Examiner for universities in the UK and internationally. Before joining the University of Stirling, I was a Senior Lecturer in Digital Economy and International Business Strategy at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University.
Before academia, I worked in the banking and fintech sectors in Nigeria and the UK, and briefly with Robert Bosch GmbH as a Sales Analyst covering European sales and Project Management.
In addition to my research and impact activities, I am deeply committed to lifelong learning and teaching, with a focus on empowering students to become AI natives through a constructivism teaching philosophy that emphasises the co-creation of agile knowledge with students. I am particularly keen to mentor PhD candidates working on Responsible AI, AI4D, ICT4D, digital inclusion, fintech and mobile money, and the internationalisation of technology and telecom multinational entities.
Prospective PhD candidates with aligned interests are welcome to get in touch.
I am also available for media commentary and expert insights on issues related to digitalisation, including artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and their socio-economic impacts on businesses, societies, and public policy.
My key research interest lies at the intersection of the digital economy and international business and strategy, with a particular focus on how emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can drive societal development and business growth in Africa and across the wider Global South.
