About me
I am a 2nd year part-time PhD student in Mathematics under the supervision of Dr Anthony O'Hare, with Dr Andy Hoyle and Dr Nora Tanner as additional supervisors. I also completed my Undergraduate (BSc Mathematics and Education) in 2021 and Master's (MSc Mathematics and Data Science) in 2022 at Stirling.
I started my PhD in October 2024, and my research concerns infectious respiratory diseases and how they should best be controlled through vaccines, as well as non-pharmaceutical methods whilst we wait for a vaccine to become available.
Outside of university, I am a huge sports fan and regularly attend football, tennis, and rugby matches.
My PhD concerns infectious respiratory diseases and how best to control them. I will simulate an epidemic, before using game-theoretic techniques to quickly compare different NPIs to control the disease before a vaccine becomes available.
Once vaccines are available, I will run a tit-for-tat game where countries choose whether or not to share their vaccines with their neighbours depending on their decision the previous year. This will allow for an assessment of the impact of the disease on the economy as well as health.
During my MSc, my dissertation project involved working within elite swimming to analyse data for over 20,000 races. The main objective of this research was to find out what separated the best in the world from the rest in terms of their stroke rate. This was done through an exploratory analysis of the date before One-Way ANOVA. The final stage of the research was to create visualisation dashboards where the swimmers could look at different metrics relating to their races, as well as comparing them against competitors.
