Mr Christian Claassen

Christian Louw Claassen is a South African PhD researcher at the University of Stirling's Institute of Aquaculture, whose work focuses on aquaculture waste management, water quality, climate change, and the environmental sustainability of salmon farming. His wider academic interests include sustainable international agriculture, resilient food systems, and environmentally responsible agricultural development. With academic training in both aquaculture and agriculture, and practical experience gained through field and farm work across England, Scotland, Sardinia, and South Africa, he also maintains a keen personal interest in African food production and rural affairs, particularly small-scale farming and the role of farmer empowerment in alleviating poverty across sub-Saharan Africa.
