About me

I am a Molecular Parasitologist working as part of the Vaccine group in the Institute of Aquaculture. I joined the group in June 2012. I have a BScHons in Zoology from the University of Edinburgh (2004), and completed my PhD at the Moredun Research Institute in 2008. Since then I have worked at the Medical Research Council and the University of Strathclyde as a post-doctoral researcher In my previous work before joining the Institute of Aquaculture, I focussed on immunomodulatory molecules from human and veterinary parasites which could potentially be exploited for use in novel vaccines or anti-parasitic drugs.

My main research interests are studying host-parasite interactions at a molecular level, with a particular interest in parasite immunomodulation of the host.I am currently working on a Technology Strategy Board (TSB) funded project to develop a novel vaccine to protect Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) from infection with sea lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis).
