Abstract
In this article, the authors introduce the research project “Books and Borrowing, 1750–1830: An Analysis of Scottish Borrowers’ Registers” (https://borrowing.stir.ac.uk/), with a particular emphasis on how the project moved from conception to execution. The article discusses the research project’s aims and research questions, provides an overview of the main features of the project’s online resource, discusses the development of the resource in detail, and then concludes with some lessons the authors have learned and some brief notes on how the resource might be used by Victorianists.
