I have been a student at the University of Stirling since 2018, first graduating from my undergraduate degree of BSc Hons Sports and Exercise Science and now pursuing a Masters degree in athlete analysis and performance development. During my time at the University, I studied full-time alongside competing internationally in my sport, karate, as an elite athlete of the Scottish National Karate Team. I am passionate about my sport, as the values I have learned from karate are so important to life and for the fitness journey. Some values I find important that are developed on the fitness journey are confidence, challenging yourself, discipline, enjoying the process and always looking to better yourself. During my time as a fitness officer, I aim to be a practitioner of these values, look to inspire others of these values, and to be a part of other members fitness journeys.
Fitness, sport, and exercise are integral to who I am. Not only is my training and my studies fitness related, but during my time at university, I taught my own fitness classes as well as obtaining additional fitness qualifications related to Aerobics fitness and Strength and Conditioning so I could teach and coach what I already love. I have been working with the sports facility as part of my sport for many years and now I am very excited to be part of the fitness team at the University and share my passion and love for sport and fitness with everyone!
I know first hand, from my own experiences, the benefits that exercise can have for physical and mental health. I’m extremely passionate about sharing my love of exercise and I believe there is a form of activity out there for everyone to enjoy and benefit from. I used to compete in combat sport, particularly boxing and kickboxing, and I still train in combat sports for fun. I have a love of strength training and running, I like keeping the body as a machine rather than just a show of muscles, it’s good to have both!
My name is Miguel and I am from Spain. I arrived to Scotland more than 6 years ago pursuing my dream of studying a sport-related degree. During this time, I increased even more my passion for sports, physical activity and help others to become successful in sports. Before arriving to Scotland, I already had a long sports career in different sports, American football the one that brought me to Stirling as a student-athlete. Coaching and giving back to sport a small portion of what it gave me first has always been on of the big forces that helped me to keep moving forward. After 5 years working as intern in the University´s S&C program, I am combining my role as S&C coach for the University with my role as Fitness officer/instructor in the gym, having the opportunity of others to enjoy sport and physical activity.
Hello! I'm Chelsay, I love meeting and connecting with new people! Being in this industry is super rewarding and it's such a privilege to be a part of somebody's fitness journey. I have always known this was the perfect job for me since I was young. The benefits that exercise offers us are endless, both physically to mentally. I consider myself a very compassionate and empathetic woman, my heart is in this for the right reasons. It's so important to invest in yourself via your health - with our support! I have worked in a few gyms now and loved every experience I've had, although I do have to say the University Gym is of course the best. I look forward to meeting you all.
I’m Samantha but also go by the name of Sammy. I love all things health and fitness. I truly believe there is not a one style or goal that fits all and absolutely thrive on helping people find a type of exercise they love.
I have currently gained over 24 years varied experience within the Fitness industry and loved every minute.
I take pride in my work and can honestly say “I love my job” there’s nothing better than seeing my clients build confidence and improve their mindset. I fully support my clients in any way possible to help achieve their goals.
Fitness has always been a massive part of my life, I was passionate about playing football as a child and played for our national squad. I later became interested in running where I’ve competed in numerous running events throughout Scotland. My latest challenge is learning Olympic weightlifting, I’ve competed in two competitions and hope to enter more in the future.
