Abstract
These standards set out practical, actionable steps for NHS commissioners, providers, agencies, and interpreters. It calls for free access to professional interpreters, robust documentation of language needs, gender-appropriate and culturally safe communication and clear processes for feedback and informed refusal. The Cross-Cultural Communications and Language Support guidance is part of the College’s programme of work focused on supporting safer maternity care. This includes the Maternity Service Standards Framework.
